The Los Angeles Kings first round pick in this year's NHL Entry Draft, Gabe Vilardi, has been traded in the Ontario Hockey League as the Windsor Spitfires have made a major deal on Friday.

Along with Vilardi comes New York Rangers prospect Sean Day, a defenseman that was selected in the third round by the Blue Shirts back in 2016. This is quite an important move by Windsor who are sending both players to the Kingston Frontenacs.

Vilardi, who has yet to play a game this season, has been left on the sideline with a back injury. At the beginning of December, Kings GM Rob Blake announced that the 18-year-old centre had been given the green light to return to practice.

Vilardi scored 61 points in 49 games for Windsor a season ago and will likely spend the entirety of 2017-18 in major junior.

As for Day, the young blue liner has tallied four goals and 21 point in 27 games this season with Windsor.
