In the wake of Jeff Carter's injury - one that will keep him out for 'multiple weeks', the Los Angeles Kings appear to be ready to make a signing to fill the hole up front.
The veteran of over 750 games was on a professional tryout agreement the Kings, and will certainly not fill Carter's spot in the lineup - let's face it, no one can fill that huge hole.
The tryout expired at the beginning of October, but Brooks Laich stayed with the team regardless - only for practices.
Laich will now have the opportunity to prove he still belongs in the NHL after a failed stint with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The 34-year-old has 331 points in 764 career NHL games.
We'll update you when the announcement is official.
