Okay, today is pretty crazy on the contract signature front. After Carey Price signing a monster 8 years deal and Patrick Marleau moving to Toronto on a 6M$+ a year deal, one could have expected the evening to be a tad quieter. The NHL world, and Evgeny Kuznetsov more precisely, said NOPE.

We just learned Kuznetsov inked a fresh 8 years, 62.4M$ deal with the Capitals.

The 25 years old played 261 games in the NHL thus far and earner 59 points last season. More importantly, he exploded in the last portion of the year and even earned 10 points in 13 playoff games. He's seen as a big part of the future in Washington and his contract proves it.

The Caps still have about 4 M$ to add 3 forward, a 6th defenseman, and a backup goalie. The Kuznetsov deal makes little sense now in term of cap, but will be better as the cap continues to progress. He might very well become a 70+ points type of player soon and the Caps will be glad they gave him a tad under 8M$ a year today.
