Breaking: Leafs defenseman out 6 months after shoulder surgery

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced earlier today that defenseman Travis Dermott will undergo surgery tomorrow to repair an injured shoulder. He’s expected to be out of action for at least six months.

The @MapleLeafs announced today that defenceman Travis Dermott will undergo shoulder surgery on Friday, May 10. He is expected to miss a minimum of six months.

Doing the math on that… a six month return would put Dermott back in the Leafs’ lineup for mid-November.

Suffice it to say, this is a HUGE blow to a Leafs blue line that’s also expected to lose Jake Gardiner to free agency. Morgan Rielly better have a MONSTER offseason…
