The Maple Leafs have declared one of their forwards unfit to play.

According to a report from TSN's Frank Seravalli the Leafs have determined that Joffrey Lupul will start the season on injured reserve, and furthermore his future with the team is currently unclear.

From Seravalli:

Lupul returned to Toronto from his off-season home on Sept. 13. Sometime during the last week, it’s believed Lupul underwent a physical examination by Maple Leaf doctors and indications are Lupul was notified he is unfit to play and will be placed on the injured reserve list to begin the season.

Lupul's talent was never in doubt when he was on the ice and healthy he was a force from Toronto, the issue of course is the fact that he has never been able to stay healthy, suffering a slew of injuries that occurred so frequently fans began to expect Lupul to get injured almost as soon as he got healthy.

The Leafs forward has declined to comment, but it is believed he will address the media later this week.
