Breaking: Leafs make 24 cuts in training camp

The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced the first round of cuts from their training camp, parting ways with 24 of their 49 players in advance for tonight’s preseason opener against the Ottawa Senators.

Cut from Leafs camp and reassigned to the CHL are the following players:

Cole Coskey (Saginaw), Marc-Olivier Duquette (Drummondville), Fedor Gordeev (Flint), Nicolas Mattinen (London), Ryan McGregor (Sarnia), Eemeli Rasanen (Kingston) and Ian Scott (Prince Albert).

Cut from Leafs camp and assigned to the team’s AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies are the following players:

Vladimir Bobylev, Jeremy Bracco, Adam Brooks, Matias Cleland, Rich Clune, Jean Dupuy, Martins Dzierkals, Alex Gudbranson, Cal Heeter, Sam Jardine, Jeff King, Nikita Korostelev, Max Novak, J.J. Piccinich, Kristian Pospisil, Joshua Winquist and Nolan Valleau.

The puck drops tonight in Ottawa for a 7:30pm game start. Hockey is back!
