The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that they’ve signed veteran defenceman Roman Polak to a one-year contract worth $1.1 million.

The 31-year-old native of the Czech Republic, played 75 games with the Leafs last season scoring four goals and seven assists. We was left unsigned by the team following the June 30th deadline and eventually earned a professional tryout (PTO) contract with the Leafs, however he didn’t make the team’s final cut as they elected to go with rookie Andreas Borgman as their final defenseman.

Now however, just two weeks into the 2017-18 campaign, it looks as if the Leafs are ready to dust off Polak and trot him back into the lineup. No word yet on when the veteran will make his season debut, but expect him to start skating with the team tomorrow in practice.
