To almost no one’s surprise, Toronto Maple Leafs top prospect Timothy Liljegren will represent Sweden at the World Junior Championships in Buffalo this holiday season.
The 17th overall selection from this past June’s NHL Entry Draft has spent his rookie season in North America with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies where he’s put up six points in 12 games.
This year’s tournament represents a shot at redemption for Liljegren who missed last year’s edition due to a bout of mononucleosis. Barring injury or illness he’ll be counted on for big minutes with a strong Swedish squad.
Let’s drop the puck!
