Breaking: Leafs qualify four RFAs
Zuma Press

The Toronto Maple Leafs have extended qualifying offers to restricted free agents Mitch Marner, Andreas Johnsson, Kasperi Kapanen and Michael Carcone, the team announced Tuesday.

According to Leafs insider Kritsen Shilton of TSN, the Leafs did not extend qualifying offers to goaltender Eamon McAdam or defenceman Jordan Subban.

Marner is said to be the top priority for Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas.

However, Marner is believed to be getting ready to meet with  other teams with the purpose of signing offer sheets. While both Marner’s camp and the Leafs could discuss today or tomorrow about a potential contract extension, it feels like we might get into offer sheet territory soon enough.

Over the draft weekend, it was reported that the Leafs and Kapanen were closing in on an extension.

We all know there is a lot to do for the Maple Leafs and they started out by extending qualifying offers to four of their RFAs on Tuesday.

More to come.
