The Toronto Maple Leafs still have to deal with Mitch Marner, however they won’t be worried about losing two other restricted free agents in Kasperi Kapanen and Andreas Johnsson.

On Friday it was announced that Kapanen has signed a three-year extension ($3.2 million average annual value) while Johnsson has signed a four-year extension that carries an average annual value of $3.4 million.

Kapanen, who is coming off his three-year, entry-level contract, scored career-highs in goals (20) and points (44) in 78 games this season and was high on GM Kyle Dubas' priority list this offseason. The 22-year-old was selected in the first round, 22nd overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2014 NHL Draft. He was traded to Toronto on July 1, 2015 along with Nick Spaling, Scott Harrington and a 2016 third-round pick in exchange for Phil Kessel, Tyler Biggs and Tim Erixon.

As for Johnsson, he scored 20 goals and posted 43 points for the Leafs this past season. He cracked the Leafs' roster in 2017-18 after spending three seasons playing with Frolunda HC and two seasons with the Toronto Marlies. He was later awarded a one-year $787,500 contract to stay in Toronto.

The question on everyone's lips now is: will there be money left to sign Marner?

Marner, who could become a free agent on Monday, is believed to be looking for a contract like the five-year contract with an average annual value of $11.634 million center Auston Matthews signed with Toronto on Feb. 5. The trade of veteran Patrick Marleau to the Carolina Hurricanes added $6.25 million in salary room for Toronto, but now, Dubas will have to see what he can do to keep Marner in Toronto.

What might help is that Kapanen's deal is heavy in signing bonus, according to TSN's Frank Seravalli:
