The NHL has named former Anaheim Ducks, Florida Panthers and Montreal Canadiens enforcer George Parros as the new head of the league’s Department of Player Safety

While Parros officially joined the department last season, the departure of Chris Pronger to the Florida Panthers front-office left a vacancy at the top. Parros was a legendary enforcer, known most for his time with the Anaheim Ducks and by his iconic moustache. In case you’ve forgotten what he’s capable of, check out this clip:


Yikes. Given his history and his new role maybe they should just call this guy “The Punisher”? Parros retired in 2014 after suffering a series of concussions and struggling with post-concussion syndrome.
