Last year, Darnell Nurse looked like what could have called, a bust. He was playing top4 minutes for the Oilers and had huge responsibilities right off the bat after only 17 games as a professional in the AHL.

Well, this year was a complete 180 degree turn. Nurse was playing on the left side of a third pair and never seemed like he was outplayed or never looked like he was mismatched. He's been a reliable defenseman for Edmonton while presenting a few offensive upsides with 3 goals and 2 helpers in 25 games. That's why it's fair to say it's a tough loss for the Oilers. To fulfilled the spot left open by Nurse's injury, Dillon Simpson has been called up straight from the Bakersfield Condors.

According to the Edmonton Oilers, Nurse would have suffered a lower-body injury during their win against the Winnipeg Jets. While there isn't much details about how long Nurse could be out, long-term generally means "more than a month".
