Many fans were surprised to see the Montreal Canadiens not re-signing top defenseman Andrei Markov to an extension and eventually watched him head back to Russia in the Kontinental Hockey League

When asked at the start of the KHL season if he regretted not playing his 1000th NHL game in the Habs uniform, Markov hinted that he was not done in the NHL.

On Friday, reporter Peter Alper of Eyes on the Prize revealed another hint that Markov could make a possible NHL return shortly.

The 16-year NHL veteran has made quite the impression with Kazan Ak-Bars. In 12 games with the club, the blue liner has recorded two goals and nine assists. In 990 NHL games, Markov amassed 119 goals 572 points with the Habs, who selected him in the sixth round, 162nd overall, in the 1998 draft.
