There has been a major ruling in the case being brought forward by the family of former National Hockey League enforcer Derek Boogaard.

According to a report from TSN's Rick Westhead, despite the fact that just nine months ago a U.S. court dismissed the lawsuit the family has filed against the NHL, today a judge ruled to allow the family to amend and refile it's claim.

It's not a good sign for the National Hockey League, and while the judge's complete ruling has not been made complete, as you can see in this expert from Westhead, the judge's language clearly places blame on the shoulders of the league.

It's unclear this will lead, but the NHL only has until October 20th to respond to the amended claim, and as a result we will likely know more prior to that date.
