On Friday TSN insider Mark Masters confirmed that Zaitsev would once again be sidelined as a result of his injury.

MAJOR turnover on Nikita Zaitsev’s situation this morning as he’s been spotted on the ice by Mark Masters, Toronto Maple Leafs insider. It’s the first time Zaitsev is seen skating by himself … first time we’ve seen him on the ice since injury.

The Toronto Maple Leafs took an early lead in Game 1 of the playoffs but they weren’t able to hold on to it eventually falling to the Washington Capitals. Will they count on Zaitsev sooner than expected?
