Finally! Some progress! It looks like the two sides are finally on the same page.

After months of strained negotiations between the Boston Bruins and unsigned restricted free-agent David Pastrnak, it looks as though some progress is being made. According to a report from the Boston Globe’s Kevin Paul Dupont, both sides are now negotiating a deal that would keep Pastrnak in Boston for the next eight seasons, the maximum allowable term under the NHL’s CBA.

With the term now apparently agreed upon, all the two sides have to hammer out is the salary. Easier said than done, as reports have them as far apart on salary by as much as $2.5 million per season. Regardless, Bruins fans have to see this latest development as good news in the ongoing saga.

With Bruins training camp scheduled to open soon and Pastrnak still pencilled into the team’s lineup alongside first liners Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand, the team surely wants to avoid any controversy in the next few weeks. Here’s hoping they can hammer out a deal and we can get back to analyzing Pastrnak’s on-ice activity, rather than his off-ice activity.
