BREAKING: MAJOR update regarding Kunitz health condition
KEYSTONE PRESS

Chris Kunitz has yet to play a game in the 2016-17 Stanley Cup Playoffs, but his first post-season appearance may be in Game 1 of the Washington vs Pittsburgh Second Round series.

The Penguins managed just fine without the veteran winger in First Round against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The league leading Washington Capitals however, propose an entirely different challenge.

The sooner Kunitz is game-ready, the better.

So the question then is, when will he be ready?

Kunitz took part in the morning skate today, looked good, but still left early. Despite that, he’s listed as day-to-day and is a game time decision. He's "likely" to play tonight however.

Kunitz saw a bit of decline this season, scoring 9 goals and 20 assists for 29 points in 71 games. The 37-year-old, two-time Stanley Cup Champion had 4 goals and 8 assists for 12 points across the Penguins’ 24 game Stanley Cup winning Playoff run last season.

Another injured forward, Carl Hagelin, is unlikely to skate in tonight’s game. Hagelin was sidelined with a lower-body injury on March 12th, and is currently listed as day-to-day. He had 6 goals and 22 points across 61 games with Pittsburgh this season.

Game 1 between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals in their second round series of the Stanley Cup Playoffs will begin tonight, Thursday April 27th.
