Breaking: Maple Leafs set to add another forward.

The Toronto Maple Leafs appear to be on the verge of adding yet another forward to their already stacked group.

According to a report from Russian hockey insider Igor Eronko of Sport Express, the Toronto Maple Leafs are set to be joined by 22 year old Russian forward Yegor Korshkov. Korshkov was of course the Toronto Maple Leafs' 2nd round pick (31st overall) at the 2016 National Hockey League Entry Draft but he has since been developing while playing in the Kontinental Hockey League.

The young Korshkov has spent all of his time in the KHL, the past 5 seasons, with the Yaroslavl Lokomotiv and has obviously performed well enough that the Leafs feel he deserves a shot in North America. In his previous season Korshkov played in 52 games for the Lokomotiv and recorded 8 goals and 16 assists for 26 points over that stretch but he has appeared in only 19 games thus far this season. Through his 19 games in the 2018 - 2019 campaign Korshkov has just 3 goals and 2 assists for a total of 5 points on the season.

It is unclear at this time in what capacity Korshkov will be joining the Maple Leafs but I would imagine that given his age as well as when he was selected he will most likely be making on stop in the American Hockey League when he first lands in North America. Not only are the Leafs already very deep at the forward position but some players struggle to adapt to the North American game so I expect some time with the Toronto Marlies will be in order for Korshkov.
