That’s three straight game with this “upper body” injury… anyone else getting worried or concerned?

According to a report from Sportsnet senior writer Chris Johnston, Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews will not play tonight’s game against the Minnesota Wild.

The 20-year-old Matthews will miss his third straight game with what Leafs head coach Mike Babcock labelled an “upper body thing”, and there’s growing concern amongst Leafs fans that Matthews may have suffered a concussion. He collided hard with teammate Morgan Reilly late in the third period of the team’s 1-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday night and hasn’t played since.

Babcock brushed off any talk of a concussion with the media yesterday, but still hasn’t offered up an explanation for his star player’s absence. Officially Matthews is listed as day-to-day and his next opportunity to play would fall tomorrow night in Detroit against the Detroit Red Wings.

Despite his team leading 26 points in 26 games, The Leafs are 5-1-0 without Matthews on the season.
