Breaking: McDavid is out of the lineup tonight

The Edmonton Oilers have always rallied behind Connor McDavid, who has managed to lead the team and guide them throughout the difficult season. However, the Oilers will have to manage without him on Tuesday as the team announced that McDavid will be out of the lineup against the Arizona Coyotes.

With McDavid, no one has to worry about him being pulled for trade reasons ahead of the deadline on Monday. He is reportedly out with an illness.

McDavid, who has 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) in his past 10 games and 34 points (12 goals, 22 assists) in his past 23, was of course expected to centre the top line between Leon Draisaitl and Zack Kassian.

The Oilers captain is missing his second game of the season, and this time we can blame the flu. The last game he missed in the 2018-19 season was back on December 3rd against the Stars in Dallas.

Let's see how the Oilers will manage on Tuesday night without their captain...

Defenseman Andrej Sekera will make his season debut for the Oilers. He ruptured his Achilles tendon during an offseason workout. He was activated off injured reserve on Feb. 4 and assigned to Bakersfield of the American Hockey League for a five-game conditioning assignment.

He is now back!
