Shocking from the captain... you feel for him!

The Edmonton Oilers spent a good part of Thursday getting yelled at by their head coach Todd McLelland, who has been asking more of this team since the start of the season.

The Oilers are currently sitting in 29th place of the NHL with an 11-15-2 record so far, and haven’t been the team we saw reach the playoffs last year and looking like a true contender.

When asked by the media how it has been to fail to meet expectations this season, captain Connor McDavid’s comments were almost hard to believe prior to tonight's matchup against the Montreal Canadiens.

"People expect us to be this great team, and it hasn't been that way so far to start, so we have a lot of room to go," said McDavid with a dejected look on his face on TSN.

"I have been saying this for a long time, we will try to respond and get out of it, but I have been saying that for a while so... At some point, it's gotta happen."

The poor captain looks depressed when talking about his team's woes and is even trying to convince himself they still can manage to come back into the season. They will try to turn things around tonight as they face the Habs.
