Breaking: Medical staff confirms injury to Jack Eichel is severe.
Keystone Press

The Buffalo Sabres medical staff has confirmed the injury to former second overall pick Jack Eichel is a bad one.

As of right now they are calling it an "ankle sprain" but one so severe that they have already set a timetable of at least four to six weeks before he can return to action, and there may still be more damage.

According to TSN's Bob McKenzie the Buffalo Sabres forward is still being examined by doctors and still has several more test to undergo before they determine the full extent of his injury. McKenzie also reports that the Sabres themselves are still waiting on a more detailed diagnosis before releasing any further information.

Needless to say losing one of your top young stars for over a month just prior to the start of the regular season is already a nightmare, so hopefully the news doesn't get any worse for Eichel.
