Breaking: Mike Sullivan provides update on Matt Murray.
Keystone Press

The Pittsburgh Penguins had a huge scare on Monday night after starting goaltender Matt Murray left the game with an apparent injury.

Following the game head coach Mike Sullivan was immediately asked about the current status of his number one goalie and his response was not very promising to say the least.

Sullivan confirmed that Murray has a "lower-body injury" however he would not give any specifics on the nature of the injury, stating instead that Murray would be evaluated by the Penguins medical staff on Tuesday.

Whenever a head coach wants to defer to medical staff it's usually not a good sign, and the Penguins can ill afford to lose Murray as they currently are fighting to position themselves for playoff contention.

The injury occurred when Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek crashed into Murray's crease, and you can see the replay of that incident in the video below.
