Breaking: Milan Lucic reveals his plans for the future.

There's no longer any doubt as to the short term future for Milan Lucic.

According to a report from ESPN's Pierre LeBrun he has been informed by the veteran bruiser via a text message that there is no deal to be had with the Los Angeles Kings, and that he is headed to the free agent market on July 1st.

It's currently June 22nd, so technically it's possible that the Kings could sweep in with a major offer to secure the services of Lucic, but for him to take this step and inform the media would indicate that the two sides are not close to a deal.

There will be a huge number of teams interested in signing the gritty forward, and the Vancouver Canucks may be at the very top of that list with Lucic being an extremely marketable asset in that region.
