As per his agent, he'll leave the NHL for the KHL

On June 17th, the Montreal Canadiens have advised one of their defensemen that they won’t qualify him.

Nesterov was obtained by the Canadiens mid-season from the Tampa Bay Lightning in return of Jonathan Racine and a draft pick. Nesterov played 13 games for the Canadiens during the regular season, scoring a goal and adding four assists. He also played two games during the Canadiens short playoff run.

CapFriendly reported earlier on Thursday that former Montreal Canadiens, and pending UFA Nikita Nesterov, will sign in the KHL per his agent. Nesterov did not receive a Qualifying offer from Montreal.

Nesterov was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the fifth round, 148th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He was also drafted by the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL)'s Traktor Chelyabinsk, who selected him in the first round, 22nd overall, of the 2010 KHL Junior Draft.
