Breaking: Montreal currently negotiating to acquire former first round pick.

The Montreal Canadiens have already made a trade today but they are not done by a long shot.

According to a report from CTV's Brian Wilde the Canadiens continue to aggressively pursue a trade that would put Tampa Bay Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin in a Montreal uniform back in his native province of Quebec.

Wilde is reporting that both sides have presented each other with multiple offers, however no deal has been reached as of this writing, and that may be a result of an overly inflated asking price from Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman. Yzerman currently has interest from multiple teams, and may be setting the bar high in order to accurately gauge where his best offer will come from.

That being said, it's clear the Canadiens believe they can get a deal done, Montreal general manager Marc Bergevin has deployed his vice president of hockey operations Rick Dudley along with scout Mark Mowers to Syracuse where Drouin is playing tonight.
