The hard luck Pittsburgh Penguins got some more bad news this morning. In addition to losing veteran defenseman Kris Letang to injury, it looks like goalie Matt Murray, forward Bryan Rust and blue liner Chad Ruhwedel will join Letang and fellow defenseman Justin Schultz in the team’s press box for tomorrow’s games against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Murray, of course, has been in and out of the team’s lineup all season as he deals with a lower-body injury. His latest injury, however, appears to be unrelated. As for Rust and Ruhwedel, they’ll be out longer term, both with upper body injuries.

This has to be concerning to Penguins fans, particularly with Murray’s announcement. The two-time Stanley Cup winning goaltender has had a difficult time staying in the team’s lineup, so much so that GM Jim Rutherford acquired veteran goaltender Michael Leighton to help provide some security between the pipes.
