Breaking: More bad news for Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews,
Keystone Press

The bad news surrounding the Toronto Maple Leafs and superstar forward Auston Matthews continued on Wednesday.

Sportsnet insider Chris Johnston is reporting that Matthews once again did not skate with his team today, and the fact that he hasn't been on the ice at all for this length of time is starting to make this look like a significant injury.

Johnston is also reporting that Matthews has already been ruled out of Thursday's game against the Minnesota Wild which means the earliest he could possibly return would be Friday night against the Detroit Red Wings. It has to be said however that there has been no indication he will be ready by Friday.

There have been rumors that the "upper-body injury" to Matthews is in fact a concussion, however the organization and head coach Mike Babcock have refused to provide any specifics on that front and have even deflected questions about a potential concussion.

You can expect that information on Matthews' health will continue to be tightly guarded by the Leafs.
