BREAKING: More Bad News

As if the loss of Vanek wasn't enough...

This morning, we reported that Thomas Vanek of the Detroit Red Wings was placed on long-term injured reserve retroactive of October 25, and that the team proceeded to recall Tyler Bertuzzi of the Grand Rapids Griffins. Vanek had suffered a hip injury towards the end of last month and was initially listed as “day-to-day” and later “week-to-week.” As it stands, there’s no timetable set for his return, and the team’s leading scorer has been missed through five consecutive losses thus far

There is more bad news for Red Wings fans, however. As the team takes to the ice for their routine morning practice, two very notables faces were missing: Niklas Kronwall and captain Henrik Zetterberg. Both of these veteran leaders had issues with their knee that kept them out of game action for quite some time.

While Kronwall returned to the ice last week, Zetterberg started the regular season schedule with the Red Wings.

There is no word on what ails either of the two, and we should find out more sooner or later.
