Breaking: New team has emerged as frontrunner for coveted forward.

It appears there is a new frontrunner for the services of a young forward.

According to hockey insider Eklund, the Philadelphia Flyers are actively trying to make a trade for Tampa Bay Lightning forward Johnathan Drouin.

There has been speculation that teams such as the Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues were pushing hard to acquire the 21-year old, but now it appears the Flyers may be finalists for his services.

Droun's issues with the Lightning have been well documented after he was sent down to the minors and made a trade request through his agent.

Philadelphia will likely be major players today, as Flyers' GM Ron Hextall has promised changes to the team. He has been successful thus far, unloading numerous bad contracts this season.

They will definitely be sellers today, and Drouin appears to be in their cross-hairs.

More to come.
