Bruce Boudreau gives update regarding his upcoming lineup.

Despite dropping the opening game of their first round playoff series in overtime to the St Louis Blues, Minnesota Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau doesn’t expect any lineup changes for his squad when they take to the ice at the Xcel Energy Center in St Paul, Minnesota for game 2 tonight.

Wednesday’s series opener was a tight checking affair that saw both teams struggle to produce goals. In fact, it wasn’t until 19:37 of the third period that Wild assistant captain Zach Parise finally tallied a goal for the home squad. In overtime the play tightened further until unlikely hero Joel Edmunson ended the game with a well placed shot past the blocker of Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk to seal the game for the visitors.

While the Wild certainly need to take the blame for not capitalizing on their scoring chances, most of the credit for the Blues’ victory has to go to goaltender Jake Allen. The 26 year-old native of Fredericton, New Brunswick was remarkable between the pipes for the Blues, stopping 51 shots and earning first star honors.

With Boudreau deciding to stand pat with his current lineup, the Wild will need to produce more with what they already have if they expect to pull even with the Blues before the series heads south to St Louis.
