BREAKING NEWS: NHL Departement of Player Safety Makes UPDATE
Matt Calvert delivered a high cross-check to Penguins forward Tom Kuhnhackl. He literally broke his stick on his opponent. That kind of cross-check is fairly frequent but the puck was not even close from being close to Kuhnhackl. It was a clear frustration/revenge move.
Pierre LeBrun was reporting this morning that the DOP was not looking to punish Matt Clavert. LeBrun tweeted that Matt Calvert is expected to avoid a suspension and be fined for his crosscheck on Pittsburgh Penguins forward Tom Kühnhackl.
The DOP apparently changed their mind as they officially announced Matt Calvert will have a telephone hearing today with the NHL Department of Player Safety for cross-checking Pittsburgh Penguins forward Tom Kuhnhackl.
