A report from NBC stated earlier today that the St. Louis Blues were talking contract extension with their 28-year-old center Patrik Berglund. Well, consider it done as it has been made official on the St. Louis Blues Twitter Account. Berglund signed a five years deal at $19,5M. You can now cross that name off the trade candidate list.

Patrik Berglund has been drafted by the St. Louis Blues on the 1 round (25th overall) of the 2006 draft. In 615 games played, he scored 145 goals and registered 141 assists for a total of 286 points. The Swedish player is a good two-way power forward that can bring a physical dimension to his game.

There are certainly a few teams that are disappointed with that news hoping to fit Berglund on their roster by March 1st.
