Breaking News : Major lost for the Pens as two defensemen are out.

Last night’s game is going to be costly for the Pittsburgh Penguins as they lost one top-4 defenseman and one top-6 defenseman. Olli Maata and Justin Shultz left the game and did not return suffering both from injuries.


As for Maata, he undergoes Successful Hand Surgery and is expected to miss as much as 6 weeks. No details been add up regarding Justin Shultz but one thing is sure it's a heavy lost for the Pens.

As per the official Pittsburgh Penguins web site

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Olli Matta underwent successful hand surgery, it was announced today by the executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.Penguins head team physician Dr. Dharmesh Vyas of the UPMC Sports Medicine team performed the surgery. 

Maatta is expected to be out of the lineup for six weeks, after injuring his left hand in Thursday’s game against Winnipeg.
