NHL Outdoor Game to Be Announced on Friday

As reported by the Ottawa Citizen, the league will announce outdoor NHL game on Friday. The NHL general commissioner Gary Bettman is expected to be in Ottawa on Friday to confirm the news.

This should be the final event to celebrate the Senators 25th anniversary in the league, Canada’s 150th birthday and the 100th anniversary of the NHL.

The game will be held between the Ottawa Senators and the Montreal Canadiens on a Sunday  after the Grey Cup is played. The TD Place will be expanded to 34,000 seats. Those stands will be left up so that the Senators and Habs can use the venue.

Since the Ottawa Senators and the Montreal Canadiens met in the playoffs a few years ago, the rivalry just kept growing between the two Canadians team.

We’re all in,” said Melnyk when asked to comment on the news.
