Nikolay Goldobin knows the quick and easy secret to drop 15 pounds in less than two weeks!

No, it’s not a diet fad, and no, he’s actually not all that happy about it. Nikolay Goldobin was reportedly so sick that he could not eat for five days straight, and lost fifteen pounds as a result.

Goldobin last played on March 7th, in a game against the Montreal Canadiens, before coming down with the flu that has been ravaging Vancouver’s dressing room all month.

The Canucks gave up long-time winger Jannik Hansen to the San Jose Sharks for Goldobin and a condition 2017 fourth-round draft pick at the trade deadline. He was immediately called up from the AHL and played in three games for Vancouver before that nasty bug took him out.

The left-shooting Russian winger has a lot to prove and is eager to do so in Vancouver, and big part of that motivation comes from the city’s “crazy fun fans”. Spending a week watching hockey from home wasn’t part of his plans.

Many of the Canucks’ young players are essentially playing for spots on the team next season, as Vancouver finally presses ahead with a much-needed franchise rebuild. While there may not be a playoff spot on the line, the remaining dozen games will help determine who is part of the new team, and who gets sent packing.

From the sounds of things, Nikolay Goldobin want to make a place for himself in Vancouver, and it will take more than the flu to keep him down.
