The Minnesota Wild reassigned defenseman Ryan Murphy to the AHL, the team announced on Sunday. The 24-year old defenseman played three games with the Wild this season, without registering a points. At the AHL level with the Iowa Wild, he registered 11 points in 18 games.


Murphy was drafted 12th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2011. He was traded to the Calgary Flames last summer, but his contract was bought out. He signed with the Wild as a free agent. In 154 games played in the NHL, the Aurora, Ontario native registered 37 points. At the AHL level, he produced 79 points in 107 games played (regular season and playoffs included). 

The Wild will be playing their next game on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings.
