Breaking: News worsens for Matthews
KeyStone Press

It was speculated that Auston Matthews would sit tonight for the Toronto Maple Leafs' matchup against the Boston Bruins, and today we have confirmation.

This is the second consecutive game that the star center will miss, and his absence at morning skate marks a 4th straight day off the ice.

Matthews is reportedly dealing with "general soreness", but missing two games and four days on ice seems to suggest that he might be dealing with something a bit more serious.

Matthews also spoke about the likelihood of him playing on the second leg of the back-to-back against Boston.

That being said, NHL.com's Kevin Weekes reached out to his sources and the belief is that he shouldn't be out too long.

The hope in Toronto is that they are just being careful with their franchise centerman and giving him the time to get back to 100%.

The Original Six matchup between the Leafs and the Bruins takes place tonight at 7pm EST.
