Breaking: NHL announces three outdoor games for 2017.

The National Hockey League will continue it's trend of outdoor games in a big way in 2017.

The League made it official on Wednesday when they confirmed three outdoor games that had been the subject of several rumors, especially as of late, and all three of those games will take place next year.

First the Toronto Maple Leafs will host the Detroit Red Wings at BMO Field on January 1st to kick off the new year. That match up will be quickly followed by a a match up at Busch Stadium where the St. Louis Blues will be hosting the Chicago Blackhawks on the 2nd of January.

The NHL also announced an outdoor game for February, one that will take place at Heinz Field and will feature one of the most bitter rivalries in the NHL, the battle of Pennsylvania between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers.
