Breaking: NHL captain placed on injured reserve with mysterious injury.

There is a very strange situation going on with the Colorado Avalanche and their captain Gabriel Landeskog.

On Wednesday we received confirmation that the Colorado Avalanche have finally officially acknowledged the severity of the injury to Landeskog with their move to finally place him on injured reserve. Landeskog has already missed six consecutive games prior to this move and the Avalanche have been extremely cryptic regarding his status.

There may be more than meets the eye here as Landeskog has also stopped skating during his recovery, this after he was skating just last week, leaving fans to wonder if there was some kind of re-aggravation of the injury during his rehabilitation.

A report from Mike Chambers of the Denver Post has claimed that Landeskog is dealing with a lower body injury but did not elaborate at all on the nature of the injury. Short of a leak from within the team it sounds like this one may remain a mystery at least in the short-term.
