Breaking: NHL captain pulled from the line up at the last second.
Keystone Press

One National Hockey League team will be without their captain this evening.

According to a breaking news announcement from the Anaheim Ducks, Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf will not be in tonight's line up when the Ducks face off against the Colorado Avalanche.

While we do not know the specific nature of Getzlaf's injury at this time, the Ducks have confirmed that it is a "lower-body injury" and they have currently listed him as day to day.

Getzlaf was off to a solid start for the Ducks this season with two points through his first two games and is the team's number one center on top of being their captain. It goes without saying that his absence will have a big impact on the Ducks moving forward.

Update: According to Ducks insider Eric Stephens, NHL veteran Kevin Bieksa is also out for the Ducks tonight.
