A National Hockey League captain has just made a very bold statement, one that will be sending his team to the postseason if it proves to be correct.

In a recent interview with NHL.com's George Johnson, Calgary Flames captain Mark Giordano set a huge goal for his squad this season, stating that 100 points in the regular season was their objective.

"If you look, 100 points gets you into the playoffs,'' said Gioradano as per NHL.com. "For sure."

"That's gotta be our goal."

The Flames have been very active over the past two seasons, making multiple changes in goal as well as re-signing key stars like Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan. It appears that the moves made by management have earned the faith of their captain.

"We know that. Now we've gotta get there. That's got to be our mindset. Not to just want to sneak in. We want to be a solid team the whole way."

Giordana is certainly setting the expectations extremely high.
