It sounds like a current player has just revealed the National Hockey League's expansion plans.

Earlier this month former NHL player Georges Laraque made comments on 91,9 Sports revealing that an unnamed source had informed him that the NHL would be moving forward with the expansion of a single franchise in Las Vegas Nevada. According to Laraque the league had informed the NHLPA of this decision.

Those comments were made some time ago, but just this week Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows was a guest on that very same radio station, and was asked about the comments Laraque had made earlier. According to Jean-Charles Lajoie Burrows echoed the comments made by Laraque, stating that while he didn't know Laraque's source, he has heard the same things.

"I don't know the source, but I've heard the same things."

Burrows also stated that he believes the league really isn't interested in expanding to Quebec and has greater interest in Las Vegas and Seattle because of their geographic locations.

"The league, with the geography, prefers to tackle markets like Vegas and Seattle... over Quebec."

According to Burrows the Montreal Canadiens owner, Geoff Molson, may also be playing a role in this story.

"I'm not so sure Geoff Molson is pushing for the return of the Nordiques, he has the monopoly in Quebec."

It sounds like Quebec City may have a lot of angry fans when an official announcement is made.
