Breaking: NHL hands out another suspension for a brutal head shot

NHL Player Safety has suspended Winnipeg Jets forward Brendan Lemieux two games for an illegal hit to the head of Florida Panthers forward Vincent Trocheck.


Winnipeg’s Brendan Lemieux has been suspended for two games for an illegal check to the head on Florida’s Vincent Trocheck.

This is Lemieux's first and only suspension in the NHL, but the 22 year old forward is no stranger to controversy. His father, of course, is long time NHLer Claude Lemieux, who made a career out of being the biggest pest in the NHL. In fact, some even consider him to be the biggest pest in NHL history. While Brendan may not carry the same reputation as his father, he's still a gritty, physical player who plays on the edge. Last season with the AHL's Manitoba Moose Lemieux put up an incredible 19 goals and 43 points in just 51 games... even more impressive? He put up those points while also posting 170 penalty minutes. A chip off the old block, it seems...
