Breaking: NHL hands out ruling on McAvoy’s high hit ahead of the EC finals!

Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy has been suspended one game for his hit on Columbus Blue Jackets’ Josh Anderson on Monday night.

McAvoy received a two-minute minor for an illegal check to the head on Anderson late in the second period of the Bruins' series-winning 3-0 victory over Columbus. 

After review, it was clear that the young defenseman put his shoulder into Anderson’s head as the Blue Jackets’ forward was crossing the Bruins’ blue line with the puck.

This one game suspension means that McAvoy will miss the opening contest of  the Eastern Conference Final against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The series begins on Thursday night in Boston.
