Breaking: NHL looking at another potential suspension for brutal hit to the head!

Players in the National Hockey League do not seem to be learning from past mistakes as we've already seen several fines and suspensions since the start of the 2018-19 season. And there might be another coming now that the National Hockey League Department of Player Safety will be taking a look at another illegal hit to the head, which took place last night in the contest between the Arizona Coyotes and the Nashville Predators. 

In the second period of the game, Coyotes forward Josh Archibald delivered an illegal check to the head of the Predators' Josh Hartman with 1:41 left in the period. Hartman was bleeding and had to leave the ice. According to Coyotes insider Craig Morgan of AZ Central, the hit is expected to garner supplemental discipline from NHL Department of Player Safety.

Archibald received a two-minute minor for an illegal check to the head. Hartman returned to the bench in the third period, but was definitely shaken up on the play. Predators head coach Peter Laviolette was seen angry behind the bench, yelling at the referees that Archibald should have spent more time in the sin bin for his actions. 

In the end, goalie Darcy Kuemper had a career-high 44 saves in his sixth straight game in net, and the Coyotes held off the Western Conference-leading by the final score of 2-1.

The Preds head coach might at least be happy to hear that the league will take a look at the brutal hit to the head of his player. 

UPDATE: The NHL has confirmed that Archibald's hearing will take place today.
