Columbus Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella wanted a suspension, however, it seems like Montreal Canadiens forward Andrew Shaw won't even get a hearing with the department of Player Safety.

TSN's Pierre LeBrun has just reported that NHL spokesperson has just confirmed that there will be no hearing for Shaw.

During the second period of the Jackets' win over the Habs last night, Shaw levelled defenseman Adam McQuaid with a nasty elbow. McQuaid appeared to shaken up as Shaw got a forearm up high, yet all Shaw was assessed was a two minute minor for interference. The blue liner, who has a history of concussions, did not return to the game...

"Suspendable. Ridiculously suspendable," Tortorella said after the game.

Well, it doesn't seem so, Torts.

Shaw has been suspended three times over his eight-year career, most recently in 2016 when he received a three-game ban for boarding.

Tortorella can at least be pleased to know that his Blue Jackets jumped into a playoff spot last night with a 6-2 win over the Canadiens.

But we are pretty sure Torts will have something to say about the league's decision...
