The National Hockey League has been hit with a sexual assault scandal, and surprisingly it's one of the men behind an NHL mascot that is being accused of misconduct.

The alleged victim in the case is a person named Maso Griffin, and the lawsuit filed by Griffen alleges that the man behind the "Bailey" mascot, Tim Smith, groped Griffin's buttocks while they were riding in an elevator together. Bailey is a lion mascot for the Los Angeles Kings organization.

Griffin claims that incident was followed by humiliating derogatory remarks around the office as well as backlash from the human resources department. The director of human resources involved with this particular complaint happened to be Melissa Smith, the wife of the man accused of the groping.

It's important to note that none of these accusations have been proven at this time, neither Tim Smith nor Melissa Smith have had the chance to give their version of the story at this time either.

NBC Los Angeles, the outlet that broke this story, reached out to the Kings for comment but the organization said it had not yet been made aware of the lawsuit and therefore could not comment.
