Breaking: NHL owner has given his GM the “green light” to make a big move.

A notoriously cheap National Hockey League owner has reportedly seen the opportunity to make a deep playoff run, and therefore deepen his pockets in the process.

Ottawa Senators Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun is reporting that Senators owner Eugene Melnyk has reportedly green lit any move from general manager Pierre Dorion that will help get the team into the playoffs.

The Senators lost star forward Bobby Ryan for up to six weeks over the week-end and as a result it's no surprise Dorion has admitted that if he does make a big move, it will be with improvements at the forward position in mind.

It's unclear what Dorion is aiming for here but don't expect him to add multiple NHL All-Stars to the roster.

"We’d all like to add five all-stars at the trade deadline but that’s not going to happen," said Dorion.
