A National Hockey League forward may be headed towards the termination of his very lucrative contract.

A report from Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal has claimed that Golden Knights forward Vadim Shipachyov has yet to report to the American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves and as a result is currently facing a suspension.

While the Golden Knights have given Shipachyov permission to seek a trade based on the fact that he remains on their roster we believe it's safe to say that his agent has not found any suitors. However it seems clear that Shipachyov has no desire to play in the AHL and as a result there is now talk we may be looking at a potential termination of his contract.

During a segment of Insider Trading on Thursday TSN insider Bob McKenzie touched on the fact that there is a possibility that Shipachyov and the Golden Knights could mutually agree to terminate his deal in order to allow him to return to play in Russia, but that would result in Shipachyov leaving million of dollars on the table.

For clarification Shipachyov would not lose the $2 million dollar signing bonus he has already received this season, however the remainder of his $3 million in salary this season and $4 million in salary next season would be forfeit if he terminated his deal.

Update: Sportsnet's Eric Engels is reporting that Shipachyov will report to the AHL while his agent searches for a trade deal, so we now have conflicting reports regarding his status moving forward.
